In 2026, Gulf Coast sailors will embark on the 33rd edition of the Regata al Sol, a legendary offshore race from Pensacola, Florida to the sun-drenched shores of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Sponsored by Southern Yacht Club, Pensacola Yacht Club, and Club de Yates Isla Mujeres, this biennial event kicks off May 5th and 6th with a dramatic start from Pensacola Bay. Racers will chart a 555-nautical-mile course across the Gulf of Mexico, navigating the powerful Gulf loop current en route to the island jewel of Isla Mujeres—nestled just off the Yucatán coast near Cancun.

But the adventure doesn’t end at the finish line. From the moment the first sails appear on the horizon, celebrations unfold in true island style, finishing with an Island-themed trophy presentation on May 14th. With turquoise waters, vibrant culture, and unforgettable camaraderie, Regata al Sol is more than a race; it’s a voyage to paradise.
